Aero Vodochody Selects AMETEK Power and Data Systems for Starter Generator for L39-NG Jet Trainer

WICHITA, KS – The Power and Data Systems (PDS) business unit of AMETEK Aerospace & Defense has been selected by Aero Vodochody, the largest aerospace company in the Czech Republic, for the starter generator and associated generator control unit for its next-generation L-39NG jet trainer and light attack aircraft.

Aero Vodochody is the world’s leading producer of military jet trainers with a total production of more than 11,000 aircraft, including more than 2,800 of the L-39 “Albatros” jet trainer aircraft since 1997. Its latest version, the L-39NG, is a highly efficient trainer and light attack aircraft.

The L-39NG combines a proven aerodynamic concept with the most advanced manufacturing technologies and systems, including advanced avionics. It can serve as a basic, advanced or lead-in fighter (LIFT) trainer able to emulate the capabilities of an operational fighter jet.

L-39NG aircraft offers unprecedented efficiency along with minimal maintenance requirements, a low acquisition price and improved flight characteristics. The first L-39NG aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2019.

AMETEK Power and Data Systems is an industry leader in aircraft starter generators with more than 50 years of experience. It’s starter generators are designed to start turbine engines and auxiliary power units. Their excellent low-speed performance results in reduced fuel and maintenance costs. The starter generator provided by AMETEK for the L-39NG aircraft is a derivative of AMETEK MG94 Series Starter Generator and its associated CG201 Series Generator Control Unit.
