September: The Month of Giving at Reading Alloys

среда, октября 10, 2018

Reading Alloys, a leading manufacturer of titanium master alloys and high-purity metal powders, dedicated three days in September to helping local causes. Employees at Reading Alloys, which is a business unit of AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP), donated time, knowledge and funds to  a trio of local charitable initiatives during the month  as part of AMETEK’s overall commitment to corporate social responsibility.

On September 12th, Reading Alloys sent a group of employees to work at a children’s home close to its head office in Robesonia, PA. The team cleaned and sorted toys at the home, helped move heavy furniture between floors, and performed such administrative tasks as filing. All of which was part of the local United Way’s Day of Caring – a national initiative that takes place across America every September.

One week later, on September 19th, Reading Alloy employees joined forces with the Sparks Foundation’s Science Explorers Program, working alongside pupils from Penn Bernville Elementary School on exciting hands-on science experiments aimed at encouraging young people to study and enjoy science.  Reading Alloys supports Science Explorers and the SPARKS Foundation with funding from the AMETEK Foundation, which awards grants and provides support to worthy local initiatives in in communities with AMETEK operations.

At the third event on September 29th, a Reading Alloys team put its strength and endurance to the test as part of the “Warrior Challenge,” a series of physical tasks organised by the local YMCA. To participate in the event, the Reading Alloys team raised $200, which the YMCA put toward its support of a local fallen officer. The Reading Alloys team rose to the Warrior Challenge and gave worthy performance on the day.

Reading Alloys takes corporate social responsibility seriously and encourages its employees to pursue volunteering and fundraising opportunities.  Known for its expertise in aluminothermic smelting, induction melting, vacuum sintering and metal powder production, Reading Alloys also works all year round to improve the lives of people living in their local community by supporting various charitable initiatives, including those made available via the AMETEK Foundation.

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products is a division of AMETEK Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of $4.3 billion dollars.
